Well, maybe not quite going for gold, but we’re certainly running for something!

The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon is starting at British Waterways Canal Dock in Wolverhampton - and we’re going too! We’ve currently got around 5 plucky candidates to do the half-marathon sponsored for the Brierley Hill Project! Fantastic.

All we need now is MORE people!

In older news…the winner of the Christmas Fayre treasure hunt prize money of £50 was won by Leeanne Massey who then donated it to the project! Thank you!

Finaly: we are about to start a partnership with Ground Work Black Country that will help and support our volunteers lead by Niki with work on the graveyard, Roughly we are looking to work with some of our clients and local people to run 4 sessions to make benches, fences out of the trees etc. The guys will get a certificate, some boots and a waterproof jacket for taking part

The website has recently been updated and alot more information is on there for anyone too see, in the coming months we hope to make it even more user friendly, add more information about projects and socail action, add testimonies and E-resources for Job seekers, so please keep checking!

The Project has agreed with the Job Centre that we need a better referral process. Hopefully, with this in place we can better support local people with job searches, CV writing, and food bank.

So we’ve agreed that referrals will be made by phone. Alison will email everyone in her office to advise them of this and that if they make a referral they need to ask to speak to Stacey to arrange appointments.
Dont worry though, an appointment isn’t needed you aren’t refered through the Job centre.
This is an exciting oppotunity and depending on how the service goes there could be a paid possistion in the Future, keep in mind folks, our main concern is serving the Resisdants of Brierley Hill.

Another quick few announcements: Afterschool’s club is still running 3.30-5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, The Food Bank is still open, and you can collect vouchers from Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), and lastly anything you want to know give us a call!

Hello again, December has been another big month for us! The Christmas Fair went smoothly, we made £421 on the day.
All in all we had 15 stalls, carols and Kato, hot pork sandwiches, Santa’s grotto, story time, an elf and 2 Angels.. All in all a very exciting event, and a great way to finish the year.

However, that wasn’t the end, we’re open until Christmas Eve 12pm.

Today meanwhile (22nd December) we’ve had the staff and locals Christmas meal, 30 people came and enjoyed a Turkey roast meal. We also had chance share more Christmas joy to give 16 hampers out to selected clients and special guests!

All thats left too say is the Cafe Re-opens and the Cafe is back with a bang on the 5th of Jan

This year we’ve seen many people and been able to be a blessing to many more. We remain thankful to all our volunteers and Partners for all the hard work and energy that has made the Project a success, we currently have over 50 volunteers, and 30 come on a weekly basis.
We’re confident next year will be a massive year for us. So watch this space.

Many thanks to The Thompson Bakery, owned by Ivan Thompson, for donating fresh bread to the project twice a week.
Big bags crammed full of bread are brought in by Daniel Griffths, who walks the bread down from the bakery in the Old Market Hall.





Jackie Drakeley, (pictured) a employee at the bakery was the one to start it all off, we cannot express in words our gratitude to her for all her effort.

The bread and buns are given to those who are in desperate need of food and help as part of the Food Bank from The Brierley Hill Project.

We are holding two events in the later part of this year here at the BHP. The first is in October, this is a fund raising event at the Brierley Hill Project on 8th October from 7:00-9:30pm. Tickets will only cost 5pounds! This is sure to be a great evening please all come along.
The second event is a Christmas Fayre, on the 12th December at 10:00am - 3:00pm. This is also sure to be an amazing time and it would be great to see you all at both of these events,

We have a few bingo nights coming up over the next few months, the first of which is This friday 11th September. It starts at 7pm and runs until approx 9pm. This will be a great fun filled family evening and we welcome anyone and everyone to join in.
The other dates of these evenings are 16th October, 20th November (Which is a Karaoke Bingo Party! More on that at a later date) and 4th December.
Put these dates in your diary, but don’t worry we will keep you posted on these dates nearer the times.

We are currently in the middle of our three week summer activities for the young people of the local area. These activities are all funded by the PAYP grant we received. Last week we took the young people to Waterworld in Stoke and and had craft sessions. This week we went ice skating in Telford which was good fun. And next week, the last week, we have a trip to Laser Quest planned. All these activities have been and will be enjoyed by all who attend.

Here at the Brierley Hill Project we are holding another Tabletop Sale this saturday 18th July. It starts at 10am and will continue until 2pm.
