A week in the life of a worker

June 21st, 2011 by admin

We have had many people in this week and had to support and deal with many difficult life situations including alcohol misuse, drug misuse, domestic violence, broken homes and much more. We have fed and helped people with housing and recruited new volunteers. We have baked scones in “After schools” and run round fields playing football. We have clothed people physically and spiritually. We have worked with social services, the police and other agencies. We have laughed and cried as we have shared moments in people lives throughout the week whether that is clients, agencies, volunteers or staff. One young man who we have struggled find a home whose history is very chaotic to say the least, who had been refused accommodation in every hostel in the Dudley borough has after great persistence now been homed.

What will next week bring?

Confidence from BHP

June 8th, 2011 by admin

In May we have seen a number of our volunteers making great strides because of the increase in their confidence after being involved at BHP. Among them, we have one who has completed an 8 week training course when completing anything before was always a major issue. Another after working with toddlers and community visiting has now got a job and is returning to work.
