We’ve been closed all of this week for a good clean up. We started stripping everything out last Friday after our Take 5 session and some of the guys stayed around to help us. The foodbank store cupboard was first on the list to have the walls treated and repainted and then we replaced the shelving so it can all be wiped down. Thanks for help with the painting, you know who you are! The foodbank now looks white, bright and little bit bigger. Next, the drop in area, rubbish removed, walls cleared and area cleaned. Numerous tip runs later – thanks Ron and Paul – we painted the offices and put things back ready for service on Monday. There’s still some painting to do but it’s much better than it was.
On Wednesday evening we had a safeguarding training session with our volunteers. It was good to get together to learn and discuss this important subject. The fish and chip supper was pretty good too. Thank-you Heather for coming along to update us.
On Thursday evening we attended the Dudley volunteers awards ceremony at the Civic Hall. It was a great opportunity to applaud all of those special people that give their time to help others.
Our very own Rebecca appeared on the Roll of Honour for her service to the foodbank because “her passion for helping people in crisis is tireless. She spends time talking to people, ensuring that they get the provision that they need. She works hard to communicate the needs to local donors and has really gone the extra mile.”
Well done Rebecca we are so proud of you!
