On Monday visitors to the drop-in had the opportunity to taste freshly dug up potatoes donated from the Hawbush Community Gardens. What a treat scrubbed and cooked in their jackets with a knob of butter….delicious! Last week 20 kg of freshly dug “new” early variety potatoes were delivered to the BHP Foodbank and were distributed and gratefully received by needy families – this week’s crop of Wilja potatoes was even bigger at a bumper 45 kg. If the potatoes prove popular, Hawbush will continue to supply more “home grown” potatoes from the Black Country Foodbank plot over the next few weeks. Fantastic!!!
