  • Over 60% economically inactive
  • Over 35% Unemployed 16-24yr olds
  • 33% 0f residents between the ages of 15-29

For the wider Brierley Hill Community of which Chapel Street is a part, the following statistics apply (2001 Census):

  • 25% of people live in Flats or similar structures
  • Brierley Hill has only 8% of houses that are detached which is the lowest in the Dudley Borough
  • Just 47.3% of residents own the property in which they live
  • Brierley Hill has the highest number of people who work in Elementary Occupations, and the lowest number of Professionals (4.2%) across the Dudley Borough.
  • At 13.8% Brierley Hill has the highest percentage of people in the Dudley Borough who travel to work on foot
