Foodbank Focus

So this week at the BHP we wanted to do a foodbank focus. Throughout the week we have dealt with 16 vouchers, which represents 24 adults and 6 children. As ever there are a whole range of different reasons and needs.
As we were busy in the office, supporting individuals which CV’s and job searches, while volunteers were putting food parcels together we had a guy walk in with a whole load of chocolate advent calendars and selection boxes! It turns out he’s a businessman in Kinver who put a note out on his facebook page that he was going to collect chocolate advent calendars for kids if others wanted to give as well. He came today with a stack! His office was totally full and wanted to make sure they got to us before the start of December. As a result we have put some aside and the remainder (a lot!) are going to the Storehouse so they can get distributed to other centres.
Several volunteers are out tomorrow representing the BHP foodbank distribution point for a presentation event at a local business. This is brilliant, not only for foodbank, but for those who give to see and hear from people who are directly involved with the foodbank and can share personal stories and some stats.
